Spontaneous Road Trip to Florida!

01/07/15 - 01/13/15

This trip started out with a Facebook post from Ali Kvidt asking if anyone wanted to go on a road trip with her! Ali and I had never met before but I followed her photography and she followed mine! We got in her car and our only plan was to drive to Florida…that’s it. This was definitely the most spontaneous thing I have ever done.

Luckily, Karrah Kobus our friend and amazing photographer was in Florida staying at her grandparents place so we could crash there a few nights! After 24 hours of driving, we arrived to Florida to find out it was freezing by Daytona… our only option seemed to drive all the way down to the Florida Keys! Karrah came with us and we ended up pitching a tent in Key Largo. The campground we stayed in was full of generous people, wifi, a heated pool, no mosquitos, perfect weather & the neighbor’s tent only a few feet away. Lets just say tenting in Florida is a little different then tenting in Minnesota!

We woke up bright and early to drive to Key West for snorkeling! That was the best first time snorkeling experience, I realized I love the ocean more than I thought just as Karrah realized how much she was afraid of the ocean… We hit up some food and the beach after that. The sunsets were beautiful and realized I never wanted to leave!

Couldn’t help myself but to photograph Karrah in that hat!

We eventually had to leave this beautiful place and had to say goodbye to all of our camping neighbors. We didn’t want our vacation to end so we stopped at Delray Beach. We stayed one more night at Karrah’s grandparents place and then left to Minnesota in the morning. We still didn’t want to believe our trip was over so we stopped to look at some cute manatee and also stopped at Devil’s Cave on our way out to snorkel! Snorkeling in that cave was probably the scariest thing because they lady working there told us “not to go in the dark spots”, but once we started snorkeling it all looked dark to us!

Ali and I decided at the very beginning that we are either going to love each other or hate each other after this trip and now I truly miss her and we will forever be travel buddies!

“No Place I’d Rather Be” - song of the trip that described it perfectly

P.S. I am dying to photograph a wedding in Florida!
